Over twenty years of experience in Europe, South America, Caribbean, US, Middle East, UAE and Asia, has without a doubt been the most valuable ingredient to Chef Martin Becquart’s grand recipe.
Born in Ban Fay (Laos), Martin grew up in north of France and found a passion in cooking at a very young age, after being inspired by his mother. Growing up in the village side of France, around farms and eating fresh vegetables, fruits and eggs made him love food even more. When he was still in school and during the summer break, he used to work in restaurants, and that is when he decided he wanted to cook for the rest of his life.
He pursued his love for food in 1994, he earned his culinary arts degree France. It was not long after that he began his first venture in the culinary field in one of the Leading Hotels of the World in la Residence de la Pinede in St Tropez. He capitalized on his experience and joined several International Chains across the world like InterContinental, Hilton, Hyatt, Sofitel and Rosewood. Chef Martin worked for several years in different countries in Asia such as Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia, Macau, Sri Lanka and Wuhan, P.R China
In 2017, Chef Martin Becquart decided to take on a new challenge and move to the Middle East where he currently holds the position of Executive Chef at Mövenpick Hotel Jumierah Beach. He manages a team of 70 chefs and oversees all operational aspects of the three main outlets, Soul Restaurant and Bar, The Talk Restaurant and West Beach Bistro and Sports Lounge.
When Chef Martin isn’t creating amazing culinary fare, he enjoys traveling, playing tennis and reading culinary books.
