Chef Silvia Baracchi was born in Perugia and grew up in Cortona in the Heart of the Etruscan territory, one of the most suggestive parts of Tuscany.
Her family owned a restaurant and she started her life in direct contact with the hospitality world. She took from her family passion for cuisine, sensitivity towards traditions, good food and wine. She opened Il Falconiere Restaurant in 1989 and started to cook new dishes, achieving her life focusing on cuisine and art. In 1993 she and her husband Riccardo opened the first 9 rooms of their Relais. Now the rooms are 22 and their restaurant is very famous and has received a lot of awards: in 2002 One Michelin Star, Gambero Rosso 83/100, Veronelli 2 stars, Espresso 16/20 and many others. In a very limited time, their Restaurant and Relais reached a very high quality level and prestige and was included in the world’s famous association of “Relais & Chateaux”.
She also owns a Cooking School, whose courses, named after her friend Francis Mayes’s book: “Cooking under the Tuscan sun”, increase the passion for food of Tuscan lovers and provide them with the necessary skills to transform this love into beautiful and imaginative cuisine.
Chef Silvia Baracchi had lots of collaborations with international famous Chef, becoming an Ambassadress of Tuscan Cuisine all over the world. In 2014, she has also been honored to sign the Business and First Class Menus of Aeroflot, the Russian Airlines Company in 2014.
She has also participated as guest of honor to many international and famous television cooking programs as well she has been mentioned on the most popular newspapers such as Sunday Times, Dove, Times Living, Food & Wine, etc.
Her first literary experience is “The red tastes of love: passion in the kitchen” by Trenta Editore, a funny cookbook that includes 7 love stories and many flirty and tasty recipes.
Wine is another important part of Relais Il Falconiere: Silvia and her husband Riccardo are the owners of the BARACCHI winery, in which they produce the following wines: Ardito Super Tuscan, Smeriglio Sangiovese Doc Cortona and Astore (white wine) Toscana Igt.
